Public Health and Animal Welfare

The Public Health Department is responsible for safeguarding the health and wellbeing of residents through implementation of public health laws, disease prevention, sanitation, and environmental health services. The department plays a key role in promoting a clean, safe, and healthy urban environment by ensuring compliance with health standards in homes, institutions, markets, and public spaces.

Mandate/Role

  • Enforce public health laws and regulations within the municipality.
  • Promote environmental sanitation and proper waste management.
  • Conduct inspection of food premises, markets, and public institutions to ensure hygiene compliance.
  • Prevent and control communicable diseases through surveillance and health interventions.
  • Promote community health education and awareness programs.
  • Ensure safe water, hygiene, and sanitation standards in public areas.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response to public health threats.
  • Improve urban cleanliness and environmental conservation initiatives.
