Mandera Municipality is a semi-autonomous urban entity established under the provisions of the Urban Areas and Cities Act, 2011. It was officially gazetted in 2019 and currently comprises three wards: Township, Neboi, and Khalalio. The Municipality’s headquarters is located in Mandera Town, which also serves as the administrative capital of Mandera County.
The Municipality operates through a legally constituted Municipal Board, guided by the UACA framework, and administered by a Municipal Manager supported by a Deputy Municipal Manager and departmental technical heads.
