Mandera Municipality, Equity Bank lead vibrant Mazingira Day 2025 celebrations.
Mandera town came alive today as Mandera Municipality, in partnership with Equity Bank and other stakeholders spearheaded a spirited cleaning and tree-planting exercise to mark the national Mazingira Day, celebrated every October 10th across Kenya to promote environmental conservation.
The event kicked off at the busy Mandera Central Business District (CBD), proceeded through the lively Mandera Market, and culminated at the Cereal Board area. Residents, local leaders, women, and youth from all walks of life joined hands to plant trees and unblock drainage systems, addressing critical environmental challenges in the town.
Graced by Mandera Deputy Governor Dr. Ali, Mandera Municipality Manager Martker, and Equity Bank’s Mandera Branch Manager, the initiative showcased strong community and institutional collaboration. The diverse turnout showed the shared commitment to a cleaner, greener Mandera.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Governor Dr. Ali hailed the exercise as a vital step toward sustainable environmental management, urging residents to adopt eco-friendly practices year-round. The Municipality Manager echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in tackling climate change and improving public health.
The reopening of blocked drainage paths is expected to mitigate flooding risks and curb the spread of airborne diseases, while the newly planted trees will enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal. Equity Bank’s involvement highlighted its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development.
As Mandera joins the nation in celebrating Mazingira Day, today’s activities serve as a powerful reminder of the impact of collective action in preserving the environment for future generations.
